About

Since 1997 I’ve been involved with Exercise Referrals as a nurse doing health assessments. I love open water swimming and enjoyed encouraging people to make some healthy changes to their lifestyles. I wanted to further my involvement in promoting activities into peoples lives and qualified as a personal trainer, which soon led onto taking further training to get involved with Cardiac Rehabilitation Programmes. Tony and I set up Cardio Club in 2006 initially as a follow on class to cardiac rehab, but now we see it developing into a host of classes and activities to suit all. We truly believe exercise can be beneficial for everyone no matter what their starting point. Cardio Club provides people with that opportunity. Exercise should be fun and enjoyable. Sessions are carried out in small groups in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and are safe and effective. Not only do participants gain lots of physical benefits but they also gain a social outlet.
After leaving university in 2000 I began working in the fitness industry as a fitness instructor. As time progressed I spent more and more time working with GP referrals, older adults and special populations. In 2003 I qualified to work in cardiac rehab and also began my involvement in pulmonary rehab. I now lead exercise sessions for a wide spectrum of people with a wide range of fitness levels and medical conditions. I thoroughly enjoy my work and helping people to get fitter is very rewarding. My preferred activities are swimming, cycling, walking, resistance training and fishing. I think anyone’s exercise program should be progressive and that sometimes means trying something new, so who knows what’s next? For those who like exercising with others our classes are great but i would also encourage people to get out there and enjoy our natural environment. There are loads of great walks on your doorstep, lots of challenging bike rides along country lanes and sometimes even the sea is warm! If you have any questions about our sessions and your suitability just ask us.
